Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. This page lists every cookie intensitylab.com sets or causes to be set, what each does, and how to control them. It complements the Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly.

Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the site to work. They are set only in contexts that need them, and the site cannot offer accounts without them.

Blocking these does not stop you reading the site, but you will not be able to log in or submit any form.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and animations are used, so we can decide what to build next. We do not use it for advertising, we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features, and we do not sell or share this data.

Cookies set by other services

  • Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the registration page only, to keep automated signups out. It may set its own short-lived cookies or storage entries on that page while it assesses whether the request is automated. It is not present anywhere else on the site.
  • Content delivery networks. Some styles, scripts, and map tiles load from third-party CDNs. These serve static files and are not used to track you, though the request itself is visible to the provider as an ordinary web request.

We embed no advertising, no social media trackers, and no third-party video players. Links to our YouTube videos are ordinary links: nothing from YouTube runs on these pages until you follow one.

Browser storage

A few pages use your browser's local storage rather than cookies to remember interface preferences, such as whether an advanced panel was expanded, and to hold your API session token on developer tool pages. These values stay in your browser, are never transmitted to us as cookies, and are cleared when you clear site data.

How to control cookies

  • Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, per site or globally, in its privacy settings.
  • To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
  • Content blockers and privacy-focused browsers block analytics on this site effectively. Nothing on the site is designed to detect or defeat them.
  • Blocking analytics has no effect on how the site works for you.

A note for visitors outside the United States

This site serves earthquake information for the western United States and northern Mexico, and is built for a United States audience. It does not currently present a cookie consent banner, so analytics cookies are set when you arrive. If you are visiting from a jurisdiction that requires prior consent for analytics cookies and you would rather not set them, block cookies for this site in your browser or use the opt-out add-on above before browsing.
